1. A species of nematode parasitic in the mosquito; a few cases have been recorded in humans, usually larval worms found emerging from body openings, presumably after ingestion of infected insects or application of moist earth bearing free-living larval stages. Origin: G. Agamos, unmarried, + Mod. L., fr. G. Mermis, cord; L. Culex, gnat (05 Mar 2000)
