Medical Definition of Clostridium ramosum
1. A species found in the natural cavities of man and other animals as well as in sea water; it is also found in association with mastoiditis, otitis, pulmonary gangrene, putrid pleurisy, appendicitis, intestinal infections, balanitis, liver abscess, osteomyelitis, septicaemia, and urinary infections, as well as in the vagina and in faeces. It was formerly the type species of the obsolete genus Ramibacterium. (05 Mar 2000)
