1. A species which causes swine erysipelas, human erysipeloid, non-suppurative polyarthritis in lambs, and septicaemia in mice, and commonly infects fish handlers; it is the type species of the genus Erysipelothrix. Synonym: Erysipelothrix insidiosa. (05 Mar 2000)
