Medical Definition of HTLV-I

1. A species of HTLV-blv viruses isolated from mature t4 cells in patients with t-lymphoproliferation malignancies. It causes adult T-cell leukaemia (atl), T-cell lymphoma, and is involved in mycosis fungoides, sezary syndrome and tropical spastic paraparesis. (12 Dec 1998)
