1. A nervous system disorder beginning in early childhood with congenital severe, progressive sensorineural hearing loss, ataxia, muscle wasting nystagmus, absent deep tendon reflexes, mental retardation, and failure to develop secondary sexual characteristics; autosomal recessive inheritance.
