Medical Definition of Wood's lamp
1. An ultraviolet lamp with a nickel oxide filter that only passes light with a maximal wavelength of about 3660 A°; used to detect by fluorescence hairs infected with species M. Audouinii, M. Canis, var. Distortum, or M. Ferrugineum, producing greenish-yellow fluorescence. (05 Mar 2000)
