Medical Definition of Aconitate hydratase

1. An enzyme that catalyses the reversible hydration of cis-aconitate to yield citrate or isocitrate. It is one of the citric acid cycle enzymes. Chemical name: Citrate(isocitrate) hydro-lyase Registry number: EC 4.2.1.3 (12 Dec 1998)
