Medical Definition of Acupuncture analgesia

1. Analgesia produced by the insertion of acupuncture needles at certain points in the body. These activate the small myelinated nerve fibres in the muscle which transmit impulses to the spinal cord and then activate three centres - the spinal cord, midbrain and pituitary hypothalamus - to produce analgesia.
