Medical Definition of Apolipoproteins b
1. Structural proteins of chylomicrons, vldl, and ldl. They are important in the secretion and transport of these lipoproteins and represent the binding proteins for the ldl receptor pathway. Atherosclerotic patients show high levels of apo b in the blood while in the case of abetalipoproteinaemia they are not detectable in serum. (12 Dec 1998)
