Medical Definition of Blunt-end ligation

1. A lab technique to join together two pieces of blunt-end DNA, such as an insert into a cloning vector, which requires the enzyme ligase because there are no single-stranded overhanging ends for the attachment to form more spontaneously, by itself. (09 Oct 1997)
