Medical Definition of Bypass graft

1. An alternative blood vessel that is created by a surgeon to reroute blood flow. Grafts may be synthetic (dacryon) or autologous (a vein from the patients own leg used as a substitute for the diseased vessel). (20 Mar 1998)
