1. An antibiotic that may be an alternative treatment for PCP and toxoplasmosis. The most common side effect is diarrhoea. Overgrowth of an intestinal bacterium called Clostridium difficile is responsible for the diarrhoea during clindamycin therapy. (12 Jan 1998)
