Medical Definition of Coformycin

1. A ribonucleoside antibiotic synergist and adenosine deaminase inhibitor isolated from nocardia interforma and streptomyces kaniharaensis. It is proposed as an antineoplastic synergist and immunosuppressant. Pharmacological action: antibiotics, antineoplastic, enzyme inhibitors, immunosuppressive agents. Chemical name: Imidazo(4,5-d)(1,3)diazepin-8-ol, 3,4,7,8-tetrahydro-3-beta-D-ribofuranosyl-, (R)- (12 Dec 1998)
