Medical Definition of Cricopharyngeal ligament

1. An elastic band connecting the tip of the corniculate (Santorini's) cartilage and the lamina of the cricoid cartilage and continuing into the pharyngeal mucosa covering the cricoid lamina. Synonym: ligamentum cricopharyngeum, corniculopharyngeal ligament, cricosantorinian ligament, jugal ligament, ligamentum corniculopharyngeum, ligamentum jugale. (05 Mar 2000)
