Medical Definition of D mannose

1. Hexose identical to D glucose except that the orientation of the H and OH on carbon 2 are interchanged (i.e. The 2 epimer of glucose). Found as constituent of polysaccharides and glycoproteins. This entry appears with permission from the Dictionary of Cell and Molecular Biology (11 Mar 2008)
