Medical Definition of Desulfotomaculum
1. A genus of rod-shaped (straight or curved), anaerobic, chemoorganotrophic motile bacteria that stain Gram-negative but have Gram-positive cell walls. Found in soil, the rumen and elsewhere. The type species is Desulfotomaculum nigrificans. (05 Mar 2000)
