Medical Definition of Edaphic community

1. A community of plants which results from or is influenced by factors about the soil, for example amount of drainage, level of salinity (salt concentration), or amount of sediment movement. Marsh environments often have edaphic communities of plants specially adapted to marsh conditions. (09 Oct 1997)
