Medical Definition of Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency

1. Lack of exocrine secretions of pancreas, due to destruction of acini, usually by chronic pancreatitis; lack of digestive enzymes from pancreas results in diarrhoea, usually fatty (steatorrhoea) because of lack of pancreatic enzymes. (05 Mar 2000)
