Medical Definition of Follicular carcinomas

1. Carcinoma's of the thyroid composed of well or poorly differentiated epithelial follicles without papillary formation, which are difficult to distinguish from adenomas; the criteria include blood vessel invasion and the finding of metastases of follicular thyroid tissue in other structures such as cervical lymph nodes and bone; follicular carcinoma's may take up radioactive iodine.
