Medical Definition of Hisactophilin

Actin binding protein (13.5 kD) from Dictyostelium discoideum. Promotes F actin polymerisation and binds to microfilament bundles but is very pH sensitive as a result of having 31 histidine residues in a total of 118. Structure (though not sequence) very similar to FGF and IL-1.
