1. The lowest of the sympathetic prevertebral ganglia, located at the origin of the inferior mesenteric artery from the aorta and containing the sympathetic neurons innervating the descending and sigmoid colon. Synonym: ganglion mesentericum inferius. (05 Mar 2000)
