Medical Definition of Iopamidol

1. An effective non-ionic, water-soluble contrast agent which is used in myelography, arthrography, nephroangiography, arteriography, and other radiological procedures. Its non-ionic, water-soluble properties result in optimal imaging and reduced toxicity. Pharmacological action: contrast media. Chemical name: 1,3-Benzenedicarboxamide, N,N'-bis(2-hydroxy-1-(hydroxymethyl)ethyl)-5-((2-hydroxy-1-oxopropyl)amino)-2,4,6-triiodo- (12 Dec 1998)
