1. 1. Applied to a set of macromolecules sharing some features in common. In immunology isotype describes the class, subclass, light chain type and subtype of an immunoglobulin. 2. Antigenic determinant that is uniquely present in individuals of a single species. 3. A conventionalised method for the graphical display of statistical data.
