1. A microscopic collection of chemoreceptor tissue in the adventitia of the jugular bulb; a tumour of this glomus may cause paralysis of the vocal cords, attacks of dizziness, blackouts, and nystagmus. Synonym: glomus jugulare. (05 Mar 2000)
