1. Polypeptide hormone (_ form: 9894D, 91 residues, _ form has only residues 1-58 of _) from the pituitary hypophysis, that is of particular interest because it is the precursor of endorphins, which are released by proteolysis. Promotes lipolysis and acts through the adenylyl cyclase system. Part of the ACTH group of hormones.
