1. Branches from the lumbar sympathetic trunks that pass anteriorly to convey presynaptic sympathetic fibres to, and visceral afferents from, the coeliac, intermesenteric, aortic, and superior hypogastric plexuses. Synonym: nervi splanchnici lumbales. (05 Mar 2000)
