Medical Definition of Medical oncologist

1. A cancer physician, qualified in internal medicine who has subspecialised in the whole person assessment of patients with cancer and also in the use of chemotherapy, hormones and biotherapy. Some medical oncologists combine their practice with internal medicine, others with haem-oncology or palliative medicine. There are few such specialists world-wide.
