1. Mercury containing benzoic acid derivatives. Some of these are commonly used as sulphydryl reagents. Mercuric benzoate was formerly used as an antisypilitic. Pharmacological action: enzyme inhibitors, sulfhydryl reagents. (12 Dec 1998)
