Medical Definition of Microelectric waves

1. That portion of the electromagnetic spectrum lying between uhf (ultrahigh frequency) radio waves and heat (infrared) waves. Microwaves are used to generate heat, especially in some types of diathermy. They may cause heat damage to tissues. (12 Dec 1998)
