Medical Definition of Neurokinin a

1. A mammalian decapeptide tachykinin found in the central nervous system. It is similar in structure and action to substance p and neurokinin k. The compound has bronchoconstrictor, smooth muscle constrictor, and hypotensive effects and also activates the micturition reflex. Chemical name: Kassinin, 1-de-L-aspartic acid-2-de-L-valine-3-L-histidine-5-L-threonine-7-L-serine- (12 Dec 1998)
