1. Superior and inferior fibrous bands retaining the tendons of the peroneus longus and brevis in position as they cross the lateral side of the ankle. Synonym: retinacula musculorum peroneorum, retinacula musculorum fibularium, retinacula of peroneal muscles. (05 Mar 2000)
