1. A nonrandom arrangement of nucleosomes on DNA, in which, at certain segments of the genome, nucleosomes are positioned in the same way relative to the nucleotide sequence in all cells. most nucleosomes are arranged randomly, but phasing has been detected in some genes. (31 Dec 1997)
