Medical Definition of Teleost melanophore
1.
Large stellate cell found in the epidermis of fish. Cytoplasmic pigment granules (containing melanin) can be centrally located or rapidly dispersed, using a microtubule associated system. Altering the granule distribution changes the colour of the skin.
