Medical Definition of Tic disorders

1. Sudden, rapid, recurrent, nonrhythmic, stereotyped motor movements or vocalizations. All forms of tics may be exacerbated by stress and attenuated during absorbing activities. They are distinguished from other types of abnormal movements that may accompany general medical conditions. (12 Dec 1998)
