Medical Definition of Vaginal hysterectomy

Removal of the uterus through a surgical incision, not of the abdomen but, within the vagina. With a vaginal hysterectomy, the scar is not outwardly visible. A vaginal hysterectomy is as opposed to an abdominal hysterectomy.
