Medical Definition of D cell

1. (delta cells) Cells of the pancreas, about 5% of the cells present in primate pancreas with small argentaffin positive granules. Their function is unclear, but they may release somatostatin. This entry appears with permission from the Dictionary of Cell and Molecular Biology (11 Mar 2008)
