Medical Definition of Eimeria of cattle

1. Eimeria zuernii, the species most often associated with clinical cases of coccidiosis in calves and young adults; found in the caecum and lower bowel, and sometimes in the small intestine. Eimeria bovis, a species that occurs principally in the small intestine causes clinically recognizable disease; many less common species have been described. Synonym: coccidia of cattle.
