Medical Definition of Enterocytozoon bieneusi

1. Agent of microsporidian infection, primarily infecting the small intestine, especially in immunocompromised individuals. It is the microsporidian most frequently reported in AIDS patients, where it has been implicated in chronic diarrhoea and weight loss; suggested treatment has been with octreotide with albendazole.
