Medical Definition of Heinz body anaemia

1. A congenital haemolytic anaemia, due to autosomal inheritance of one of many unstable haemoglobins. The anaemia is of variable severity and characterised by the presence in vivo or in vitro of Heinz bodies. (05 Mar 2000)
