Medical Definition of Adenylosuccinate lyase

1. An enzyme that, in the course of purine ribonucleotide biosynthesis, catalyses the conversion of 5'-phosphoribosyl-4-(n-succinocarboxamide)-5-aminoimidazole to 5'-phosphoribosyl-4-carboxamide-5-aminoimidazole and the conversion of adenylosuccinic acid to AMP. Chemical name: N(6)-(1,2-Dicarboxyethyl)AMP AMP-lyase Registry number: EC 4.3.2.2 (12 Dec 1998)
