Medical Definition of Arcuate popliteal ligament

A broad fibrous band attached above to the lateral condyle of the femur and passing medially and downward, blending with the posterior part of the fibrous capsule of the knee joint, arching over the tendon of the popliteus muscle.
Synonym: ligamentum popliteum arcuatum, popliteal arch, posterior ligament of knee.
