Medical Definition of Arylamine n-acetyltransferase

1. An enzyme that catalyses the transfer of acetyl groups from acetyl-CoA to arylamines. They have wide specificity for aromatic amines, particularly serotonin, and can also catalyze acetyl transfer between arylamines without CoA. Chemical name: Acetyl-CoA:arylamine N-acetyltransferase Registry number: EC 2.3.1.5 (12 Dec 1998)
