1. Diphosphoric acid, calcium salt. An inorganic pyrophosphate which affects calcium metabolism in mammals. Abnormalities in its metabolism occur in some human diseases, notably hypophosphatasia and pseudogout. Chemical name: Diphosphoric acid, calcium salt (12 Dec 1998)
