1. Of the heart. Origin: Gen. Of L. Cor, heart Diastasis cordis, any period of mechanical inactivity of the heart and particularly of the ventricles, usually appearing normally during slow heart rates when the ventricles complete their filling early and appear to be inactive. (05 Mar 2000)
