Medical Definition of Cortical vesicle
1. A vesicle, or membrane-bound bubble, in an animal egg cell that releases proteases and other enzymes immediately after fertilization, chiefly to change the egg's surface cell membrane so that no more sperm cells can enter. (09 Oct 1997)
