Medical Definition of Cytochrome p-450 cyp2d6

1. A polymorphic enzyme that catalyses the hydroxylation of debrisoquine. It also metabolises several antidepressants and neuroleptics. This enzyme is deficient in up to 10 percent of the population. Registry number: EC 1.14.99.- (12 Dec 1998)
