Medical Definition of Dnaj gene

1. A gene found in the bacteria Escherichia coli which helps the bacteria survive at high temperatures. It also plays an important role in the replication of the DNA of bacteriophage lambda. It is closely linked with the DNAK gene. (09 Oct 1997)
