Any disease characterised, in part, by the abnormal accumulation within the nervous system of specific gangliosides, e.g., GM2 gangliosidosis, Tay-Sachs disease, caused by hexosaminidase A enzyme deficiency with accumulation of GM2 ganglioside Synonym: gangliosialidosis, ganglioside lipidosis.
