Medical Definition of Haemochromatosis

1. A rare genetic disease that results in the over abundance of iron in the body tissues. Organs affected include the liver, brain, heart and kidneys. Complications include liver dysfunction, diabetes, changes in skin pigmentation, heart problems, arthritis and testicular atrophy. Treatment includes therapeutic venesection on a regular basis.
