1. A group of toxins found in certain venoms and poisonous material from some plants, e.g., rattlesnake venom and ricin; haemorrhagins cause degeneration and lysis of endothelial cells in capillaries and small vessels, thereby resulting in numerous small haemorrhages in the tissues.
